Abstract

This research deals with the duality of night and day in the poetry of Ibn Sa'id Al-Maghribi, a semiotic approach, in which the researcher attempts to search for that duality with all its semiotic requirements through right and day together, where darkness appears and light comes, morning is revealed by its radiance, day becomes clear by its sun, and perceptions meet in the light of that day until darkness comes in its night with all its connotations and meanings.
This duality did not stop at the superficial phenomena and manifestations of signifiers, but rather delved into its profound structure, searching first for direct significance, then transcendent significance, and finally, the final (extracted) significance. In all cases, this duality lies in a spatial/temporal geographical dimension, meaning that it polarizes space and time together, while also addressing the semiotic dimensions that represent significant literary symbolism.
This semiotic approach was nothing more than a critical method that required examining this or that sign to reveal its essence and meaning in the context of poetic interpretation, which searches for the poet's visions in their finest details, even if they often transcend their semantic dimension.
The poet here possesses a cosmic, living, and life vision that transcends his existence, or rather his reality, to express the perceptions of his inner self with its orientations toward the universe, the self, and lived reality.
