Abstract

Abstract
: This research examines the Shiite doctrinal system in the poetry of Du'bal al-Khuza'i, one of the most important Shiite poets of the Abbasid era. This system is considered one of the most dominant in his poetic discourse; not only did it express his Shiite faith, but his discourse also opposed the (official) authoritarian discourse, making it a tool of protest against the injustice and persecution of the Prophet's family and their followers. Thus, it exposed the corruption of the political system and its persecution of the Prophet's family.
The research relied on cultural criticism to uncover the religious and political dimensions that shaped this system. The study concluded that his use of the doctrinal system was a tool for resisting authority. His praise was not merely a mention of their virtues and merits, but also a demonstration of the legitimacy of their authority and their right to the caliphate. Even his elegy was a protest against their enemy, expressing their suffering and persecution. His poetic discourse intersected with his Shiite faith, and he was laden with Shiite beliefs about the Imamate, Taqiyya, Mahdism, the sanctification of graves and shrines, and other things.
